Grandma Ann’s Place (GAP) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded by a displaced child with everyday experience. Our vision is to improve the lives of children in foster care, who often find themselves forgotten and neglected by the public. We collaborate with individuals, agencies, advocates, and community foundations to bring resources to foster families.

Chamara Mitchell was raised by her grandmother Annie Nance (affectionately known as Ann) from the tender age of two. Chamara was guided into womanhood by Ann and her friends and family. As a child, Chamara saw her grandmother fill in gaps for others by giving back to church, community, family, and friends. There was nothing that Ann wouldn’t do to assist someone in need.

Because of Ann’s helpfulness and loving spirit, Chamara also wanted to work in a field where she could support others in need.

Following her honorable discharge from the military, Chamara Mitchell embarked on a journey to becoming a helping professional. While working as a foster parent recruiter, Chamara noticed that Grandma Ann’s Place (GAP) needed to be filled between the foster parents, kinship care relatives, and our children. At Grandma Ann’s Place, we intend to fill in the GAPs. Our community will become stronger by uniting as one village for our children in care. We strive to create a routine and well-rounded environment for children to thrive.
